Take a picture before disassembly

Excellent headset. I ride a tandem and my headset is very battered. This works great as a replacement. However, the included documentation isn't very specific as to which direction the races and spacers go. I don't make a living off bikes and this is the first headset I've replaced. It took me a bit of searching on the internet before I was able to find a picture that was detailed enough to show how it all fits together. Experienced mechanics might laugh at me, but other DIYers might have the…

Perfect for my BB Schwinn straight stem

I bought this to replace my bearings after seeing I had bought a new air fork to fit my 29" Schwinn Santis - Upgrade suspension fork. I read how painful it was to remove the bottom bearing flange from the old fork and how painful it was to replace the star nut. I decided to just buy a new head and that did the trick. I failed at that. However, I was able to install the new steering column and bearings myself without buying any fancy tools. It definitely needed some improvisation. I may have seen some videos of RJ the cyclist along the way. The "take me to the bike shop”…

Another good quality headset Cane Creek

Over the years I have used different brands of headsets although most of them were Tange threaded models. I've used a threadless Cane Creek 110 series on a previous bike (a Trek 720 disc that had a cracked frame at the seat tube to top tube junction, but that's a tangential tirade I'll skip for now), which was an expensive one upgrade was. While I'd love to put a 110 series in my new steel frame, I couldn't justify the cost. The 110 is 100% American made and beautifully finished, including the…
