Review on 💻 Lenovo Thinkpad Workstation Dock 230W (40A50230US) for US Market by Chris Parrott

I have a P50 and ran into a situation - on the station it does NOT fully boot, just a black screen. I have to take it off and as soon as I lift the lid it pops up and I can put it back on the station. I tried the following without success: - bought a new dock (I bought my P50 with a dock last March), after calling Lenovo the warranty expired - the new dock has the same problem - on the Lenovo website I found the update firmware of the docks, but after downloading, the update log indicated that I already had the latest firmware. Updated the BIOS to the latest version. In BIOS I have done the following based on many references to this issue online: o Changed Configuration/Display from Hybrid to Discrete and Boot Time to 5 seconds o Master Key/Factory Restored Security Keys - this actually gave me a LENOVO screen but just sat Since there I had to remove the P50 from the dock, lift the lid to complete the boot process, and then swap the P50 with the dock. o I ended up going back to hybrid mode and 0 seconds as there was no benefit. I called Lenovo and they were nice but just followed the standard procedure which didn't help at all. So I'm forced to just undock the P50, lift the lid and boot up to the lock screen, dock the P50 again and it boots fine from there. I can honestly say I will never buy a Lenovo product again! I'm only giving it two stars because it works, but not the way it should. For me it was my USB hub - once I unplugged it, the device worked fine. I then replaced the hub and the new hub works great with this dock. I had an old hub for a few years and I think it just broke. If you're having the same problems as me, disconnect one USB device at a time (start with a hub if you have one), restart your computer, and try the following.
