We've recently started kayaking and I needed a true WATERPROOF bag that would protect my camera and ensure my camera doesn't get wet when my gear the water is accidentally in there. Most bags state that they are waterproof, but they are not, and they will leak if dropped or submerged in water for an extended period of time. I was suspicious of this package at first too, but followed the instructions, rolled the lid up four times and it became airtight. Tested underwater, no leaks. I used it to store my full frame camera and lenses (Canon 5DIII, 70-200 and 24-70 lenses) while kayaking and had complete confidence that my gear would be safe in the water. It comes with two shoulder straps so you can carry the bag like a backpack. It has very light padding. So if you're hitting hard surfaces with this bag, extra padding may be needed to provide that extra layer of cushioning.
