elegant oil candles, simple but well finished

I love oil candles and they are beautifully finished. They burn cleanly with no smoke or odor whether you use pure liquid paraffin or Firefly's proprietary oil (but don't use any other fuel). The glass is simple yet elegant, neither too thick nor too fragile. The chimneys are metal (aluminum I think) and don't have the disadvantages of glass chimneys (they always break sooner or later), but they look nice. The wick is thick enough to stay in the chimney, making it easy to adjust the flame. After a few hours of burning, the glass dome around the chimney gets warm, but the rest of the candle stays cool. However, filling candles with oil is a pain. Unlike water, which has surface tension that causes it to cling to itself (hence raindrops), lamp oil is "liquid" and flows in all directions. The tiny funnel that comes with it doesn't fit at all - I have bigger ones that are better, but filling them is usually a mess anyway. A squeeze bottle with a slanted spout is available, but unfortunately it's incredibly expensive for what it is. But that is secondary here. Fill the sink and wipe out the candle thoroughly after filling, otherwise the oil may stain the surface the candle stands on. Then enjoy your oil candle.

Pros
  • Candles and candle holders
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
