Inexpensive, bright but requires additional equipment

I bought these as rear work lights for my ATV. Of course, you'll have to wire them yourself for all of these bulb types, but that's to be expected - they only have a waterproof short pigtail with #18 wire. But there is one major bug that can be fixed, so I didn't send them back. The M8 hex bolt that attaches the bracket to the light is too long and cannot be tightened enough. Not just a little, but a lot. So you need to add extra M8 stainless steel washers for each lantern to have space so you can tighten them. You screw this screw into the light body and the thread is not deep enough for the supplied screws. I found using a total of three washers AND a stainless steel split washer to get it properly tightened was enough to keep the mount from moving without crushing the threads. See attached image for details. I didn't have the M8 stainless washers but did have the local TrueValue washer so I took the extra washers that were needed. I would imagine someone not close to a hardware store that sells stainless steel in metric sizes and that would prevent you from installing them. There is no excuse for a manufacturer to make such a big mistake even with items this cheap. The bulbs are bright, mostly spot beam, but the side LEDs diffuse it enough to meet my lower wattage needs. Working lights on the back of the ATV. Let's see how they stand the time and the weather.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • not the best
