Review on Samsung C27F398 Curved Monitor - LC27F398FWNXZA, 1920X1080P, 60Hz, Curved Screen by Travis Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great painting at a very reasonable price!

After eventually buying a pair of mini PCs for business and personal use and using an old 21-inch widescreen LCD monitor, I found that I must be spoiled by my 4K TV because the picture on this one Monitor was just great in my opinion seemed so boring and it didn't support 4K which I enjoyed watching 4K videos etc. I wasn't sure which monitor to choose, but I wanted something a lot more, with 4K support, and it was very reasonably priced. Price. I did a lot of research for monitors on Revain's product listings and came across this monitor and found that it is a curved screen. Although I've never had a curved screen, I've seen them at my local electronics store. and was damn impressed. I was very curious about this monitor because it had all the specs I was looking for, at least a 27-inch widescreen, 4K support, 1920 x 1080 native resolution, LED backlighting, and a curved screen. . When I also realized it was Samsung I was very happy to learn more because I've always been very lucky with Samsung products and in fact I've only had one Samsung product that has ever failed and that was the mobile phone , a phone that should have stopped working many years ago because of what it has been through. Not knowing much about monitors these days, I started reading the reviews that were written about this monitor and asked the community a few questions. The answers I received to my questions closed the deal for me. Everyone who replied said nothing but good things about this monitor and provided me with the information I needed. So I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, when it got here, the first one had a broken screen. It turned out to be packaged that way as the box was factory sealed but the box was broken open on the inside. Needless to say I returned it but Revain really took responsibility and sent me a replacement the next day so I only stayed one day to use it. As the first monitor came with a broken screen, I am guessing the screen might be a bit brittle as my old monitor was dropped and the LCD screen never had a problem. I don't know how easy it is to damage screens on LED monitors, or if there's something someone dropped really a lot before packing, that's why I gave 4 stars for durability) Installation was a child's play! You only had to screw in 1 screw to mount the stand and that's it. The stand is the only thing I really don't like because the base that sits on the table is shaped like an inverted chevron that protrudes a few inches in front of the monitor. That makes it a little painful to put on a small table where your keyboard would be in front of it because the keyboard has to be brought closer to me and just gets in my way. I managed to get around this by putting the monitor on a small shelf I made from a box and an old laptop desk I had. This ideally raises the monitor by about 4-5 inches and allows me to move the keyboard even further so I now have more desk space. (Added pictures to show the base and how I worked on the chevron base to make room). The monitor has an HDMI connection and a display port. Now I'm unfamiliar with Displayport, but all my devices have HDMI, so connecting a PC is easy. Actually, I have 3 mini PCs that I need to connect to this monitor, so I bought a 5-port HDMI switch. This means I can switch between the individual mini PCs simply by pressing a button. The picture on this monitor is just phenomenal! As soon as I plugged in the HDMI connector, turned on the monitor, it automatically searched for a signal, which it found right away, and WOW! What a great picture. The colors are very bright and rich. The dynamic between black and white is amazing and the color reproduction is very vivid. I'm very impressed that I've never used a curved screen on a computer monitor before. It almost immerses you in the painting and almost gives it an extra 3D look, almost three-dimensional in nature. My biggest concern was that with a curved screen there would be distortion on the curved screen and I'm happy to report that. "Absolutely not!". The images look perfectly flat, but the curve causes them to shift the outer edges of your peripheral vision, bringing you closer to your focused vision when looking straight ahead. Learn how to adjust settings with the back switch. It takes a little getting used to, but at this point I really didn't need to use any options other than hibernate and shutdown as the defaults seem perfect for my setup. Unfortunately, this monitor doesn't have built-in speakers, but if you have speakers connected to your computer or are using a set of Bluetooth speakers, you should be fine. In general, my impression of this monitor is fantastic! The picture quality is amazing and the size with the curved screen is amazing. I would recommend this monitor to anyone who wants a great home or office monitor at a more than reasonable price. Although I didn't use the monitor for gaming, I did use a monitor with the same 4ms refresh rate and native resolution of 1920x1080 and that monitor is over 10 years old and still holds up today so I can relate just imagine this monitor is perfect for modern games. I'm definitely glad I bought this monitor and if I need to replace the monitor I'm using as a second monitor I will most likely buy another monitor of this model! Once again highly recommended and for all this the monitor gets a full 5 stars from me!
