It works but with some limitations

My skin is itchy, especially on my back. I use lotion to soothe it but there is an odd spot in the middle of my back that I can't reach no matter what I do. I hoped this gadget would solve this problem. It comes in a nice box with four spare pads, a wooden handle and some non-slip pen or bathtub strips. I didn't use stripes. The pads are solid foam. Reminds me of a baby bath toy. There is a hole at the end of each pad. You insert the pointed end of the handle into the hole until it is securely attached. It was easy to do and took less than a minute. Lacquered wooden handle with cotton cord for hanging. The wood is mostly smooth, with contoured finger grips. It is light and feels comfortable in the hand. It should be curved to make it easier to reach your back. I smeared some CeraVe lotion onto the pad with a small drop and then tried applying it to my back. And that was my first mistake. A drop of lotion fell off the mat and landed on my butt. I think you need to smear the lotion onto the pad first and not just pump it out of the dispenser. Drops are not needed for this job! So I tried again and applied a thin layer of lotion to the foam pad. It worked better this way, but for some reason it was a bit awkward due to the angle of the handle. I felt like bending my wrist and arm to reach the middle of my back. The handle seemed long enough and properly angled until I tried it, and then it seemed too short and straight. I would like to add that I'm a small person (5ft 1in) and quite flexible, but apparently not flexible enough. In any case. I had lotion in it and it was basically rubbed into the skin. cool concept and pretty well made device and worth a try for $12. But I also think there must be a better way!
