I haven't bought an alarm clock in over 15 years. I've never thought about it but my bedside alarm clock takes up most of my day and this one is amazing and way better than before. It dims completely from a few brightness levels. The bright LEDs can be switched on and are clearly visible from any angle in a brightly lit room. All functions work correctly and intuitively (except for the "Sleep setting" I'm not sure), and the snooze button is large and is pressed 99 times more often than the small sleep buttons when half asleep. The base is wide enough not to tip over when the snooze button is pressed. It has two USB charging ports and a speaker and headphone jack for FM radio (although the cable isn't that easy to replace). The thermometer reads an average of 1.0 degrees less than my other thermometers. The standby/no connection mode requires 3 AAA batteries and I mixed 3 random batteries to not sound too picky about fresh high voltage batteries. The tactile sensations of the controls are good. For a cheap alarm this is perhaps a 5 star unit. At least 4 stars because maybe my standards are old and outdated.
