I really liked the phone from the start. The display is very easy to read, as is the large button. Setup is pretty easy. Generally well designed. Unfortunately, he died less than a week later. First, the display began to flicker and dim. Then bad noise and echo on the line and then a complete shutdown. Unplugging the power cord for a while seemed to get it working for a few minutes, but eventually it died again. I ordered a replacement so I hope it was an accident. One thing that annoys me is that dialing a long distance number from caller ID doesn't seem smart enough. It only records the 10 digit number but needs to add a 1 when dialing. This can be a limitation of our phone service, but the phone really needs to be able to handle it. This works well for local numbers if you set an area code; This removes the encrypted region from the recorded incoming phone number. Also, you cannot include the area code for local numbers in the stored directory. The directory is actually nothing more than a speed dial. It would be nice if you could either provide an area code for long distance calls or make it smart enough to only use 7 digits for local numbers.
