Never buy a watercolor kit without a water brush along with brush pens. Luckily this one has 6 water brushes of different sizes! They help a lot in blending and lightening the nib color of the brush, so just buy a set of water brushes (aka this set). I can never paint without lots of water to mix and fix the texture. The brushes themselves are very pigmented so they need to be dipped in water or layered for lighter colors. Sounds obvious but as someone who has worked with less pigmented colors it took me a while to figure it out. The brush tips apply pigment evenly and allow you to control the amount of paint that hits the paper. Although there are only 24 colors listed in this set, you can ALWAYS use a piece of plastic to "paint" and mix colors together to get the colors you want. So this set really has endless color flavor possibilities. However, you must seriously consider that they do not lie flat on a regular sheet of paper! I can't stress enough how important it is to get real watercolor paper because regular paper, even if it's thick cardstock, will warp and the paint will bleed (see the attached picture of the anime girl on cardstock). The kit includes several sheets of half-leaf watercolor paper, which will give you a good idea of how they should work (check out the hand's drawing). However, there are so many different types of watercolor paper that you may want to try other types depending on your preferences (texture, layerability, etc.). Overall I really liked these markers and they are a pleasure to use. Considering the price shown and the quality, I would 100% buy them again.
