Heavy Duty Apple Slicer

This is one of the best apple slicers I've ever used and that's why I have 3. It has a nice heavy duty stainless steel construction which makes it comfortable to grip. The weight is really nice and really helps you slice the apple. It's also big enough for *most*, but not all, apples. We grow apples and while this works for most of us, some larger apples get stuck and are more likely to break. It also works great with pears as long as they aren't too soft. My main issues have to do with how the blades are attached, as well as the blades themselves. First, the blades appear to be only glued to the center ring blade, not soldered. I've had a break so far and it wasn't even while using it with an apple that is difficult to cut - it cut well until it just popped out. The whole set of blades came loose from the handle and got stuck in the apple (which was difficult to get out). This keeps me from giving this slicer a full 5 stars even though it is really good and well priced. The other problem with that is smaller. It often doesn't cut through the skin from underneath, meaning all the apple slices are easily bonded together. However, they are easy to break even if they don't look that good. This issue is very, very minor and does not affect my rating. Overall, this is a good apple cut. It is heavy and convenient to use, and also saves a lot of time. I only use it for eating apples and also for slicing apples for apple pie. The slices will be a little thick for a pie as the apple will be cut into 6 slices, but as I like big chunks of fruit in my pies I'm fine with that. As I said, I now have 3 of these and have bought 4 (like I said, one broke). I wish the blades were better brazed so they don't have this problem.
