I love that thing! I learned a lot on the RB3 guitar with this plastic guitar. Don't judge it by his head, the RB3 requires you to play it exactly like a real guitar and a friend of mine gave me a real guitar so I could practice. Well, if you REALLY want to learn something, you need a real guitar to transfer what you've learned from RockBand, but I think this is the best way to start. Before that I didn't know anything about playing guitar, but now I know a few chords, as well as standard scale names (mi, la, re, sol, si, mi) and a lot more that I've discovered. I only played piano up to guitar so I had to make a connection between the two and one of those is that on guitar every 12th fret is an octave. If you understand it and really go for it (but don't become a mindless zombie), I can guarantee you'll learn more than anywhere else, and you'll love it too. But make sure you have the game (RockBand3) or it's practically useless. ;-) And grab a real guitar, it helps to hear what you're playing (everything, even mistakes) so you know what you're doing right and wrong, and then you can correct mistakes and improve.
