Carpet in black. Came packed in a box. Well turned out. Several waves subsided within a few minutes, now it's flat. The mouse pad is smooth and falls somewhere between low to medium friction. It's not as smooth as my old steel pad, but it's very close. It works with my Logitech Powerplay charger. It's thin enough to let a charge through. Overall I'm happy with this purchase if only black wasn't the wisest choice for a cat owner. It collects lint and pet hair fairly quickly, but a quick twist of the lint roller will solve this problem.
