VERY SATISFIED WITH THE FINAL RESULT! THE KIT WORKED PERFECTLY ON MY FIVE DIFFERENT TREES.

I bought this to repair small scratches on several different wood products made of different types of wood, stained and painted different colors. repairing such a wide range of wood as my wood and paints spanned all hue and saturation scales as well as textures and wood species. I didn't use any special tools. I just took a small old plate, some old t-shirts, cut up into rugs. I placed my plate next to the wood I needed to touch up, opened it up and arranged my set in a line from light to dark. Then I chose the wooden tube that was closest to the piece of wood. I squeezed a small teaspoon or so onto a plate. I had a small job so it didn't take a lot of paint. I then used a small old plastic dough scraper that I dedicated to this work. I had to add tones lighter or darker, warmer or colder, brown or yellow, black or white, and I took it from there. It's really like mixing paint to paint. If you want color to match, all you have to do is add a little of what feels right to you. I didn't worry about the process as I could add and adjust the retouch color in any direction I wanted. If it were too dark for me. I could just remove half of the dark color and add more light colors or start with a fresh spoonful of color. Then every time I mixed colors I used an old kitchen knife or a piece of wood and applied color to it and held it close to the tree to see if my mixed color matched the wood. Once happy with my mixed paints, I applied them to the wood, filling in the scratch and removing excess paint. Once he filled the gap, I wiped away anything that might be outside of the scratch. The colors appear to be water based so cleaning was very easy and left no subtle stains or dullness. It was just perfect. As you do this, it will get easier as you get a feel for the colors and get a sense of which way to mix the perfectly matched color. My tip: Mix slowly at first. And don't jump into too much darkness at once, either, because it's a lot easier to darken the pattern by adding some dark color, and then lighten the dark spot you want by adding much lighter color, so either start with one lighten and build up or if too dark mix a new blot. It takes very little paint to repair a scratch. With a teaspoon of the right paint, I was able to touch up a large area of floor scratches from Tin Paws that had been left small over the years. Dog. It was about a square meter of a whole bunch of sheet metal scrapers. Other work was minor, like a few scratches, tiny dents, or dime-sized missing paint, all of which ended up looking perfect. I am very happy with the end result as I no longer see any flaws. All areas I've corrected look great. A little consolation: You don't really need any previous knowledge for this, a kindergarten child can already do it because it's just fun to mix colors. Completely stress-free therapy fun. If you want to be more certain before accepting a more valuable piece, I would suggest that you take an old piece of wood that has some sort of stain, scratch it with something, and then practice correcting the color. This will boost your confidence and give you a sense of how to approach your precious piece and see if you are happy with the end result. Overall, I am VERY happy with the purchase and the end results.
