I've had this for about 18 months now and use it for sanding drawer/door edges and sliding edges at a hobby furniture store. I didn't care from the beginning due to the lack of performance, but I decided to keep it because I could do what I wanted with it and didn't want to buy a more expensive device. Well when I use it I often turn the motor off, even if I'm just putting a little horizontal pressure on the piece I'm sanding with a 120 grit sanding belt. Today when I used it to sand the edge of 5/8" plywood, the smoke started coming out of the engine so I shut it off and called Shop Fox support. The rep told me that I couldn't turn the engine off and that I blew the capacitor. At least they send another capacitor with a 2 year warranty. I just don't see how I can sand something in the future without waterlogging. If you just use the edge of 1/4 plywood, do yourself a favor and spend a little more for something stronger.
