I'm a photographer so I have a lot of expensive gear. So when I'm shopping for new gear and accessories I tend to do thorough research because I need solidly made items to protect this expensive gear. I recently decided this would be a great addition to my Instagram to show off my setup and process when photographing landscapes in the wild or photographing the Milky Way night sky. As I have the latest iPhone, using it as such wasn't a problem. Unfortunately, most phone mounts are plastic, and I won't trust fragile plastic on my $1,000 phone. Luckily, I found an aluminum Ulanzi phone mount. Here are the pros and cons of this item from my point of view as a photographer: 1. It is durable and the fold out adjustable legs keep my phone secure2. Tension screw holding everything together won't slip or loosen3. It's light, which is very important when I'm taking a large amount of gear to remote areas! It has a cold shoe that allows me to add lighting or microphones: 1. Design. The screw that holds everything together is quite large and wide (about 1/4" wide and 5/16" high) and prevents using a cold shoe. This reduces the usefulness of this article.
