I just dug up my old stereo (not a cool vintage just early 2000's) that I haven't used in years and decided to upgrade the speakers (a pair of Sony -speakers stolen from a large all in one system). After much deliberation and discussion, I decided on this one. The fit and finish was excellent on my pair. I have them on 24" stands. Out of the box they sounded a little weak in my opinion, but after about 5 hours of use (mostly when I was away from home) I felt the bass was badly compromised. They won't banging against your windows or the like but the bass is tight, punchy and musical with no subwoofer and very musical. Ideal for rock and jazz. Maybe not as much as some people would like for hip hop or classical but that's about it pretty subjective.I'm a bass player and pretty picky when it comes to low frequencies but they work really well with the sound I like for the music I listen to.
