Excellent quality speakers

I just dug up my old stereo (not a cool vintage just early 2000's) that I haven't used in years and decided to upgrade the speakers (a pair of Sony -speakers stolen from a large all in one system). After much deliberation and discussion, I decided on this one. The fit and finish was excellent on my pair. I have them on 24" stands. Out of the box they sounded a little weak in my opinion, but after about 5 hours of use (mostly when I was away from home) I felt the bass was badly compromised. They

Felt like wax had been removed (when I switched to my cheap Denons)

My wife and I wanted to upgrade the speakers that came with the $300 Denon in-line system (m38 ) were delivered. . With Elac speakers alone costing $280 after tax, we were prepared to be blown away. Well, Elac sounds bigger because of the high frequencies. These speakers cast a curtain of high frequencies across the entire soundstage. Unless the source material itself is incredibly detailed (Quincy Jones is back on the chopping block, for example), most recordings, from jazz to rock, soundโ€ฆ

Power and clarity in a small package

Well, that was my blind buy after a long research. They replaced some of the Yamaha NS-A638s which sound impressive after 20 years. When I opened the box I was ready to send it back. They are significantly smaller, ranging from a 3-way design with an 8-inch woofer to these. I thought I wouldn't be able to get that rich sound, but oh I was wrong. Yes, they're pathetic to look at, but the design makes them sound twice as great, and the clarity and projection are much better. You'll likely needโ€ฆ

After reading the hype about how these speakers compare to speakers twice the price, I was intrigued. So I did what any scientist would do - I put them in competition with speakers of different costs. Here is my setup. Big amp (Sony ES Line Preamp, Speaker Switcher and Speaker List: B&W DM602s1, B&W DM600s3, NHT ClassicThree, Micca Club 3 (modified with XO and passive radiator) and our infamous Elacs. This was set up as a blind test for my audience of 3 people (2 musicians and a non-technicalโ€ฆ

Great speakers, my detailed review

A little about me I'm a 21 year old guitarist/musician with understanding and experience in recording and producing. I know what it really takes to play recorded music in stereo and I firmly believe that good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune. Now, for shooting purposes, I find it more convenient and accurate to use a pair of good active monitors, so I'm not considering them for shooting purposes or neutrality. For myself, I bought them for maximum entertainment, to listen to music. I'veโ€ฆ

Great - Saved me down the audiophile rabbit hole

After 20 years of constantly upgrading and sifting through speakers found at thrift stores and Craigslist, a living room redesign forced me to get rid of some vintage floor stands and to buy them. new smaller speakers. I don't have a surround cinema, only two channel stereo for music, but I needed two matching pairs, one for the kitchen and one for the living room. Ever since I started downsizing, like every other speaker buyer on this planet, I've been looking for bookshelves with good bass. I

Pros

Cons
  • Slightly torn

Very good acoustics. Wow effect from the first listening - the sound is very bright, sometimes unnaturally sonorous. Sometimes I had to turn down the high frequencies. Demanding on placement, it is better not to put it directly against the wall - a hum from a phase inverter is possible. However, despite this, the music played through these speakers sounds very, very worthy.

Pros
  • Very good acoustics.
Cons
  • Sometimes very bright. Can strongly color the sound with high and low frequencies.
