Review on 🔊 ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers in Sleek Black Finish (Pair) by Debra Brown

A little about me I'm a 21 year old guitarist/musician with understanding and experience in recording and producing. I know what it really takes to play recorded music in stereo and I firmly believe that good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune. Now, for shooting purposes, I find it more convenient and accurate to use a pair of good active monitors, so I'm not considering them for shooting purposes or neutrality. For myself, I bought them for maximum entertainment, to listen to music. I've listened to all kinds of high quality systems and I've had Pioneer BS-22s designed by Andrew Jones and I loved them. They were decent but needed a subwoofer as they lacked low-end power. When the original Elac B6 bookshelf speakers came out, I bought them and loved them for almost 2 years. I never thought I would need an update. They sound amazing and always will. Recently my old Sony receiver broke and I bought a Yamaha RX-V385 and Sewell cables which produce really high quality sound. When I saw this new updated B6 released I had to jump on them and make a purchase. Now I will review them and the original B6 together and then explain the difference between them and the originals. The original B6 and both of these speakers have a very rich sound that's bigger than the size of their bookshelf. They have a very solid sound and in my opinion you don't need a subwoofer to enjoy the sound they produce. No frequency stands out overwhelmingly, and no frequency truly overwhelms other frequencies in the spectrum. They are well balanced and sound like music. Low frequencies and bass sound fantastic. There's weight, punch, punch and musicality. The bass is very pleasant in both pairs. I personally listen to all types of music but I especially love modern progressive metal and this type of music needs a very detailed and powerful sound to be played and these speakers make metal sound like metal and they never sound like they will fight no matter what. how loud I turn them on. I've never heard them distort, even after turning them on at the same volume I've ever heard them at. You handle sound, period. Now, in my opinion, these new B6.2 speakers are better than the original in almost every way. It's not the difference between day and night, and they don't give a fuck about the originals, but in general they've streamlined and improved. The tweeter is now higher resolution and has been moved to the front of the speaker instead of being set back and more directional like the original. The originals sounded best in their sweet spot, as do these, but the sound is more open and they sound very good no matter where you stand in the room. The soundstage is noticeably wider. They now have a front port and seem to deliver better sound and punchier bass. Some reviewers say they have less bass weight, but in my opinion the bass on them is actually better and less boomy since the originals have a rear port and are more dependent on their distance from the wall. It comes from a metalhead who loves heavy bass and the bass on it is about as good as I could ask for. All in all a more musical, clearer and more purposeful experience. I love these speakers. If you're looking for good, true passive speakers and don't want to spend a fortune, buy these. They sound better than anything I've ever heard, no matter the price.
