Disappointing terrible design!

Long story short, my experience with these pedals was horrible! I'm a relatively short person (120 pounds) and have never been able to lock these pedals. The design is terrible, the spring that's supposed to hold you in is very stiff with no room for adjustment so you can't dial in how hard or soft the engagement is. Shoe head screws are very small and if you keep tightening them you will push against the spring making it even more difficult for your shoe to lock, but if you apply a small amount of torque you risk missing one of the threads of the shoe snagging small capscrews or even risking cross-threading of the capscrews (the manual says it's important to tighten the capscrews to 5Nm, but let's face it, who has a torque wrench that turns that low unless you're a mechanic?) . My husband tried to fix it (he's heavier than me) and couldn't fix it either. In the end I was very upset and sent them back.
