Review on πŸ•ΆοΈ Antec Dapper Dark Phantom DP301M: Compact Micro-ATX Gaming Case with ARGB Lighting and Tempered Glass Side Panel by Tim Springer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Neat body - with defects

Large body, nice layout but still with quality defects. Inserts for them, they are simply screwed into a thin sheet of metal - and twist, albeit very carefully. Luckily I had some captive nuts so I ended up saving the day, but was missing a few holes to properly mount the GigaByte ATX motherboard. The front USB 3.0 ports have a pigtail that allows you to plug them into a USB 2.0 port without a dedicated connector too (good!). BUT, only one of the front USB ports works. We will contact Antec or Revain for this, but we will not return the entire case. The case is louder than expected. Have several Antec 300 cases in use and they are quiet (with three hard drives installed). With the same number of hard drives, it is still LOUD in this case. only white noise from high-quality hard drives. A small resonance could be strong at times, but it seems to have subsided/gone. The hard drive rails are pretty good. A "quick release" for the 5.25" slots might be better (actually, I prefer screwing the drives on - how often do you change your DVD drive?). A lot of people complain about the front panel tabs breaking off, but I do don't see the reason. In case the case develops problems over time, Antec has a decent collection of 'spare parts' available.Nice feature to route lots of cables behind the motherboard as this makes for a cleaner install Update 5/3/2014: Just noticed that only one of the front USB ports is working. I've moved the cable to another port on the motherboard but the result is the same. Will "report" the bug to Revain , but not sending the case back (returns) However, keep in mind that Antec has ports and cable assemblies available as spare parts (although I don't really want to take everything apart at the moment).

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
