Review on XVR7216A 4KL X Channel Penta Brid Digital Recorder by Tony Addis

I first bought a HIKvision DVR as I have many of their cameras. However, they don't have a reliable MAC OSX app that actually works. They only have one browser app (Chrome) that works, but with MANY limitations. I decided to send it back and buy this one. It was $100 more expensive but it works! It's worth it. It has a lot of great features and works great with my Mac. I can say that this DVR is more or less suitable for a large company and would perfectly cope with such a task. This is more than a kill for my home ownership. However, if you have a Mac, you're pretty much stuck. Hikvision informed me that my cameras do not work with this dashcam. You couldn't be more wrong. I haven't had any issues with any of my Hikvision IP, HD-TVI and HD-CVI cameras. Setup was a little tricky just because of the number of options. I didn't need more. The only downside I've found, which Dahua Tech Support says will be fixed in a future firmware update, is that most of the advanced detection features won't work if you're using other IP cameras besides the main cameras. this. such a 16x16 DVR should support 16 coaxial and 16 IP cameras. To use advanced features you can only have 16 cameras and must disable the other 16 IP features. I was told this will be fixed in the next firmware release. I'll update if this actually happens. Right now I'm limited to only 16 cameras. That being said, if it's a deal breaker I would suggest getting a larger DVR that can handle your entire system with a basic number of cameras. However, the quality and apps for all my Mac, Windows, Android and IOS devices are excellent. Fast access and great features. I would highly recommend this and any other Dahua DVR. This is already my second purchase. I liked it so much that I ended up buying another one for another.
