I bought a Revenge from Mars pinball machine and updated the code on it (code updates add many new options to the game) I needed a null modem cable. I needed this one. I connected the USB end to my laptop and the DB9 end to a pinball machine. (This particular pinball machine, which is over 20 years old, actually contains a PC.) I ran the updater and the update went fine. I couldn't have done it without this cable. I have to say that this cable doesn't feel cheap at all. It's very well done. I'm going to keep it in a pinball machine as that's the only place I'll ever use it and it might be soon if a new code update is available very soon. The cable seems a bit pricey, but it's definitely a quality cable. I certainly didn't want to use a cheap, poorly made cable and risk a failed upgrade that would ruin my pinball. It was the way.
