Good reliable cable UBS null modem

One of the most beautiful null modem cables I have used. Works fine in Windows 10 via USB 3. I like that it has indicators so I can see rcx and trx signals. I've used this successfully to login to multiple network device consoles. No drivers were required in Windows 10, everything was plug and play. It comes with a driver disk in case you need one for older operating systems. That's not because the side of the DB9 sticks out a little more than usual, but because it has electronics to convertโ€ฆ

I never thought I would need a zero cable again.

I bought a Revenge from Mars pinball machine and updated the code on it (code updates add many new options to the game) I needed a null modem cable. I needed this one. I connected the USB end to my laptop and the DB9 end to a pinball machine. (This particular pinball machine, which is over 20 years old, actually contains a PC.) I ran the updater and the update went fine. I couldn't have done it without this cable. I have to say that this cable doesn't feel cheap at all. It's very well done. I'm

Handy if you always need a null modem

supports TTL Connection. Being able to control if RX and TX are working is very useful. If you always need a null modem for your projects because that's how the plug is connected, save yourself the hassle of an additional adapter. Especially good if, like me, you often travel with a cable. However, if your board/device doesn't have a crossover, you should look for a cable without a built-in null modem so you don't need a null modem adapter to "cross back" to get a direct connection What'sโ€ฆ

Excellent all in one serial adapter

Great as it uses an FTDI chipset which is very important. Production chipsets are not as reliable. Plugged it into my Win10 PC and let Windows handle it. Said it installed fine but I had to update the driver in Control Panel Device Manager. I pointed to the Win10 FTDI folder on the included driver CD and everything worked great. The next best thing is that it has a built-in null modem and a proper DB9 socket, eliminating the need to use a separate null modem or gender changer. The last plus isโ€ฆ

Works, but what are LEDs?

The FTDI driver was already installed but I still had to search Windows for the driver to get it working. Picky to get it working properly (it took about half an hour with multiple clients trying to read the TxD line - it stayed idle no matter what data was sent to it, although data was received, no error condition in the driver), but eventually it chose to play well. I don't know what caused this as I ran the transmitter at 1 character per second for diagnostics and nothing changed on theโ€ฆ
