It does what it says on the tin

So you need a way to hot-swap drives immediately for any reason (swapping media libraries, investigating OS boot crashes, backing up files). ), it will do just that and good. But I also want you to know that you can use it with an optical drive. After moving to a new location I lost the included USB 3 Type B cable, but I still managed to find 4 screws from the bottom under the legs, undo them and the screws holding the board in place . Unfortunately, I also left my smaller screwdrivers behind and it was a bunch of tiny screws holding the plastic lifting mechanism in place that was getting in the way of the board coming out. I was able to free it by plugging in a soldering iron and heating it to 450Β°C / 842Β°F, which melted the plastic that was in the way. The switch was particularly difficult to remove, so I had to pry it off the circuit board before melting the area around it by placing it in a small clip (I think I have one like Mr Handy, can me at the moment don't remember the name ) and with a soldering iron to smooth it out as much as possible. If you have a spare switch, it's best to just plug it in. Ultimately, it can be plugged into the back of the optical drive, but remember that the power and USB connectors face down. If you don't want to remount them I would suggest hanging up the end of something so you can connect it. Mine is on the back of my PC. As I mentioned, I lost the cable, but I still managed to make sure the optical drive had power and could work by plugging it in. , turn it on, wait for the LED on the drive itself to turn off, and press the eject button once to open and once to close. This pretty much confirms that the method at least gives it power and probably works fine once connected.
