I've never modded a controller before but I thought a round d-pad would be great for special moves in fighting games so I bought a brand new controller along with this one and soft touch shell also from eXtremeRate. Installation was quite easy after watching a few videos on YouTube, I was very afraid of ruining everything and ending up wasting my money, but everything worked out in the end. First, my controller looks cool, no complaints. The buttons are nice, I like the ones that are a bit larger than the default, I'm more confident that I won't get erroneous input when I press two buttons at the same time. However, several problems arise here. The thumbsticks seem pretty solid for most games, but remember I bought these with fighting games in mind; If you press them too fast they will click a bit due to the magnets, which is annoying but not a problem for most games. However, the left stick sometimes gets stuck for about half a second when pressed, not sure why. However, the biggest disappointment for me was the main selling point - the round cross. The magnets on it actually seem weaker than on a regular d-pad and if you press it with force it just pops off. It makes special moves easier if I do it carefully, but softness is the last thing on my mind when I'm in a match. It works great if you're just using it to display menus or whatever. I could end up gluing the damn thing back in place and then it would probably be amazing, but I wouldn't be any less disappointed. recommend.
