In a pinch these wicks work. However, don't expect the same performance as standard wicks or durability. When I tried them for the first time I was satisfied because at the end of their life they performed significantly better than the series products. We have hard water, and these wicks are particularly hard. In order for the box to say "Extended Life" and for me to get the amount of use I could get out of them (maybe just a good few weeks?), I can't be too positive about the product. Unfortunately they aren't even that much cheaper than Essick (when I went to the store to pick them up they were renamed AIRCARE HDC12 but Essick is mentioned on the packaging). I don't know if it's just the paper pattern used or if it's the quality of the paper, but I felt like I should replace them with Essick almost immediately for a significant improvement in humidity levels in our home. As I said, they work, it's just not the level of functionality I was expecting given the "extended lifespan" and other claims. They're fine, and if you don't need a humidifier to give you more than a little boost every now and then, they might work for you, but we run our stoves in the Midwest quite a bit during the winter and we need all the humidity that we can get.
