Does exactly what I need.

This product replaces a similar Scosche product. In comparison, this one is easier to use without looking due to the layout of the buttons. The main reason for the switch was that the music plays from the microSD card - but on Scosche it always plays in the same linear order and I was looking for "Random" or "Random" mode, something that is easy to adjust menu on this device. I think Scosche might have had it, but when I contacted them for tech support due to a lack of instructions in the manual regarding music playback features, they stated that my device didn't have a microSD card slot (it did) and couldn't play MP3s (it was). I use this unit with a cable plugged into my car's AUX input and it sounds fine - no complaints. It's probably not audiophile quality, but seriously, what is a Bluetooth device? Add in some street noise and even the best mobile audio system will struggle to produce the same sound quality as a fancy home system. Remember - we're talking a basic $21 adapter, not a custom $10,000 stereo. It remembers the play mode I set it to and just connects to my selected bluetooth device when the car starts. I use it with an iPod nano 7G and a 64GB microSD card, and occasionally plug in my iPhone when I want to stream music. back from the microSD card and Bluetooth. I couldn't find a button or setting for this, and I just have to wait for the Bluetooth connection when music is already playing from the microSD card, although I usually pause this and wait for it to eventually toggle. The workaround I found is to just take out the microSD card and force it to use Bluetooth. I don't know if this is a Bluetooth limitation, but it would be nice to be able to see track information on the display when playing from a Bluetooth device. It's not a critical feature as I pretty much know what's being played and it also keeps me focused on the road. I can just press the button on the iPod to make it say the track's title, which is probably the best solution. There is an aesthetic solution to this device that I was a little taken aback when I first used it. There appears to be a button under the dial in the center, but it's not. The button is a knob used to select play and pause. I don't see any way to fast-forward or rewind a track either - if you hold down the rewind or forward buttons you'll quickly find that they control the volume, something you won't change that often and as such a feature , which it would probably be better to move them to a submenu and keep those skip a song buttons. If you need to adjust the volume while using this device, use the volume controls on your stereo to do so, most likely the steering wheel, not the transmitter itself. With audio books, it would be nice to go back a few seconds to see something you might be missing have. So play them on your ipod or phone and skip them as you need instead of doing it on this bluetooth adapter. Overall, I am very satisfied with this device and can recommend it. Yes, I wish my car had Bluetooth installed from the factory, but that was one of the things I had to do without to get the manual transmission I wanted, a very rare feature on minivans in the US. I tried adding the required OEM parts to my machine to enable this feature but quickly found that was not possible. Luckily, this little device does a very good job of adding this capability at a very reasonable price. EDIT: I had to deduct a star because of an annoying part of the design that bothers me. While it's nice that the forward and back buttons jut out the sides of those wing-shaped ribs, making the buttons easier to identify, to make the plastic that acts as a hinge incredibly small, maybe a millimeter or two. If the cable catches on one of these knobs, it will lift up, which will loosen the hinge part and make it impossible to lower it back down. With a button sticking up there is an even greater chance of snagging on something and then breaking off like I did. I put it back in and it works, but it's not as easy to press as before. And today I hooked another one and now it's sticking out too. If I'm careful I can epoxidize it before it comes loose, which seems inevitable at this point. Then it feels just as crappy as "outdated", so I think it would be the perfect combination. Too bad - it's a really good unit that works and sounds good but is let down by a small design flaw.
