Review on Sanitaire Tradition SC684G: Powerful Upright Commercial Vacuum for Efficient Cleaning by Ronald Bleimeyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sanitaire sucks everything!

If you're looking for a vacuum cleaner, also known as a sweeper, that looks like your mom or grandma's old style, this is a great choice! No wonder it's called the "traditional upright position"! The reason is that it sucks like an old vacuum cleaner in the traditional sense. And damn it sucks! Sanitaire vacuums dust, lint, cat and dog hair right off our mat. If you have a pet, it will clean your carpets mercilessly. The big, noisy engine is a bit difficult to power, but that's exactly why you'll love this "traditional" time machine traveler so much! You can feel and see the results as soon as they appear! You know you get that ingrained dirt and hair from every movement of people and pets. With this baby you can pick up the most common dirt from carpets! I wasn't trying to throw a bucket of dirt on the carpet. I think this will get it clean but it won't get wet. This is not a wet vacuum and personally I would not use it on bare floors. With the front and middle adjustment knob, the height of the sweeper and thus the suction and tensioning difficulty can be easily adjusted. Sanitaire consists of several parts. Almost anyone will be able to assemble it in minutes and get it up and running quickly (see attached picture, without a few mounting screws and a few hooks for wire and bag). The handle is assembled in the form of two high-quality hollow metal tubes. The bag is removed and "shaked out" to get rid of dirt. The body is made of high quality hard plastic. On/off switch, cable and bag holder (can be snapped onto the tube) and foot pedal are made of plastic. They appear to be of good quality in strength and material. I wish they were metal, but most things are plastic these days, even replicas of grandma's old vacuum cleaner. As you can see from the attached picture, a fairly strong 50ft wire is supplied with the product. You can run this in a regular single family home on one floor without stopping to plug it back in. Whether you want it or not depends on your layout and connections. It is definitely suitable for a very large room or an open space. After running this vacuum cleaner on our carpet (i.e. push and pull) our hands got a bit tired. That's because we wanted to "feel like shit" and see nice, clean footprints on the carpet. It's adjustable, but probably not the right choice for those who are a little weak or don't want to push and pull the beast. They are also not very easy to maneuver like some of the current "lightweight" vacuums on the market. The Sanitaire does not negotiate tight turns gracefully. There are no attachments as this is an old fashioned traditional vacuum cleaner adorned with the finest space age materials. Overall I would recommend the Sanitaire Tradition vacuum cleaner. I can't find any major flaws to deduct a star from and it works as advertised. We continue to use it over our 'light and modern' models just to maintain the suction power and clean carpet look! PROS: - The suction power is amazing! - Picks up most hair and debris in one go - Easy to empty pouch - Great for traffic with lots of kids/pets - Easy to assemble - Commercial grade quality / Powerful motor - More than enough cord - Brings the thoughts and joys of 'grandmas Sweeper back " CONS: - Can be difficult to push/pull and maneuver - Bag can be a bit dirty when emptying - Plastic switches and levers - A bit noisy This is a good buy!
