Worked as needed for Hurricane Irene

I bought this with overnight delivery before Hurricane Irene because all stores with this type of radios were sold out. It was delivered to my house just in time and I have benefited a lot from it since my electricity went out! Lots of negative reviews about the build quality of this radio. I don't think it looks cheap. It's certainly not as durable as professional radios. It's not waterproof or shockproof; If you drop it on the pavement from a height of 5 or 6 feet, you may damage at least one part of this radio. It is ideal as an emergency radio for at home or when camping. It's not as good as a real survival radio and you shouldn't expect this radio to be of the same quality as it costs less than $100. Plastic. I would like metal. The speaker quality is quite good. The reception was as good as my car radio. The three performance options are also great to have. The radio is very portable. As some reviewers have pointed out, the phone charging feature ONLY works while you're using the grip. It is NOT charged from the battery. This smartphone allowed me to charge my smartphone (HTC EVO 3D). I haven't tried solar charging yet. I suspect it will probably take a while to charge since the solar array in this radio is very small.
