I was looking for an alternative to my internal microphone on my laptop, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money - so I decided to give it a try. I just wanted something simple that I could just plug in and run. This microphone is well packaged in a nice box with a good manual and tripod. The microphone itself is well constructed with a metal body. It's quite heavy and durable when screwed onto a tripod. I connected it to my laptop and the drivers loaded automatically. I followed the guide to tweak a few settings and logged into Audacity in minutes. Easy. The sound quality is good. I recorded some spoken word and some acoustic guitar with vocals. The sound was quite rich and not hoarse at all. I intend to use this for spoken word recording, large meetings, and quickly capturing ideas with guitar/vocals. I think it's perfect for that. I like that there is a volume control and mute button on the front of the microphone. The grip is smooth and you won't hear it on any of the recordings you make (it doesn't scratch or chafe when adjusted). The same goes for the mute button - there's no click. So yes - this is a very good microphone for the price. If you're in a professional studio, be sure to use a more expensive microphone. But for hobbies and as an alternative to a laptop's built-in microphone, it's more than ideal.
