I had a 32" wide door so I had to trim the 36" edge of the door but it was very easy with metal snips. I would recommend purchasing #10 pan head screws instead of the included 5/8" pan head screws as these screws require a special square head wrench and appear short. Don't over tighten as the plastic strip needs to have some slack at the top to allow the white cap to slide over the guide. Once the lid started to lift, I used a rubber mallet to gently push the lid along the rail, loosening each screw as needed. I was able to install this without removing the door from the hinges. I like both the inside and outside of the door. The door now has a good bottom seal; It is not difficult to open the door when installed.
