Perfect door closer

Advice to those weighing the benefits of purchasing a self-closing hinge versus a self-closing pin hinge: choose a complete hinge. but the device couldn't build enough voltage to close the door (plus it was PITA to try to load it with the poorly designed wrench/pin method it uses). Replacing the hinge entirely was much easier to achieve the correct tension, and the hex key and bar method (included) made preloading the spring mechanism an easy task.

Solid choice, directions. strange.

So. I had bought a total of three of these by the time I was done. Not because there were any problems, but because my wife wanted me to hang them in more places. The biggest problem we saw was not enough force to close the door. This only applies to one of the doors that leads into a tiny room. If you're using this for an interior door in a reasonably sized room, it should be fine as long as the door is hollow. Otherwise you will probably need two. My only complaint is the directions. You are…

great solution auto-closing door required

When mum and dad come they leave the door open and let in the flies and mosquitoes that drive me crazy. Stumbled upon this while looking for an auto-closing door and I'm glad I did. I was originally going to order a 2nd set for my wooden doors. One didn't fully close all day when I partially opened the door. Then I tried WD-40 and it worked beautifully without the need for a second loop. Got a second backdoor kit. The same thing. Sprayed WD-40 on the hinges and works very well with only 1…

Set auto open or auto close!

I had to get them for the garage to code my door. This basic Revain loop did it! I was worried if one was enough for the door, you can see what it took me to manually close the door. Tip: Pay attention to the hole pattern. If you want 4 you will have to look elsewhere. I have a Hager - You can set it to open automatically - Or set the tension to close automatically Pros - Relatively inexpensive good quality hinge Cons - Can't think of anything I put this on for another closet door in the house…

Poor Design - Hinges

This is the worst self-closing hinge I've ever had to buy. It was very easy to install, simply removing and replacing the existing hinge. However, setting it up was a nightmare. As more turns you make with the Allen key (to achieve the desired torque to close the door), the inner cylinder begins to lift up and out the top of the hinge, which then blocks the holes used to insert the latch pin required are . So you can't get the right torque to actually close the door. He "almost" closes the…

Ticks all the boxes!

I needed a gold/brass hinge to automatically close the basement door. We have one child, a speed demon, and I don't want my wife and I to accidentally leave the door open. This loop solves the problem without worry! I put a hinge in the bottom, a three hinge door, and it works fine. I think a middle or top would be slightly better, but my door swells up too much in the summer to not close properly. once and use the cotter pin. A very simple process, but the instructions say don't hesitate. It's

Adequate, not great.

I have installed many self-closing door hinges. I decided to give them a try as the price is good and the construction fundamentals are pretty standard. it wasn't enough to close the eight-foot-tall cellar door. I suggested that maybe the weight of the door or the wind from the basement was preventing it from closing. I bought a second self-closing hinge and one from National Manufacturing. After installing one from National I removed the main Revain loop and everything worked and was a…

A little difficult to install.

I just installed this self closing hinge on my bathroom door. As others have said, installing this hinge can be a bit tricky. A few things complicated my installation: 1. My bathroom door only has 2 hinges, meaning when I removed 1 original hinge there was only 1 other hinge holding the door. I put a rag under the door to keep it from falling, but the door still wobbled. This made it difficult to install a new hinge.2. This loop is only a hair's breadth larger than my old loop so it won't snap…

Great for interior wooden doors

I ended up liking this more than I thought it would. Most of the items I've been buying lately last way longer than they should for a variety of reasons including complicated instructions or requiring additional tools. Remove and tighten screws. 1) Remove all screws from the center hinge. I choose this one to keep it balanced. If I must add, the door has to be opened to remove the screws, well this project just isn't for you. :-)2) Place the new hinge in the pocket of the old hinge with the…

Works well if installation instructions are ignored

I needed an automatic door closer to prevent our cats and dogs from opening certain doors. In the first picture, one of our cats is trying to open the door. All she has to do is knock on the door handle and the door will open, after which she can push it all the way shut. Our poodle has learned to open doors by pulling or pushing, and sometimes even closes the door after entering the room. (I have a video, but it's an unsupported file type.) As other reviewers have pointed out, the door…
