I ended up liking this more than I thought it would. Most of the items I've been buying lately last way longer than they should for a variety of reasons including complicated instructions or requiring additional tools. Remove and tighten screws. 1) Remove all screws from the center hinge. I choose this one to keep it balanced. If I must add, the door has to be opened to remove the screws, well this project just isn't for you. :-)2) Place the new hinge in the pocket of the old hinge with the adjustment hole facing up with the Allen key. I was lucky, everything fit and even the holes matched about 99%. Labels must face outwards, which is not specified in the directions. 3) Alternate between frame and door bolts and tighten all bolts until snug but allow some slack for positioning. 4) When it's time to tighten, make sure your torque setting drill bit is sufficient to tighten, but not over-tighten. Final tightening with a screwdriver is the safest method in my opinion. 5) Use an Allen key to move the top holes clockwise. 1st and 2nd settings are probably too weak, so start with 3rd. I used an allen wrench to move the mechanism and insert a long pin. A long pin is easier to remove than a short one. Insert one of the short pins. The door closes securely from a position of 75 degrees and wider. Otherwise the door will close but not lock. No creaking like other door closers. The entire installation in less than 10 minutes. Very happy with the results and none of the injuries that sometimes happen with DIY projects. lol, I even used the supplied screws instead of mine. Highly recommended. The only comment I would like to make is that I'm not sure a hinge would do for a heavier steel door. In this case two loops would probably be recommended. Remember that air pressure is also affected when the door is fully closed. I've found better success with a window in the same room that's just a little open.
