This makes installing hinges super easy, comes with a router bit and a self centering hinge bit which is all you need. It has two depth settings on the side, just set the router to the appropriate hinge size and navigate to it. I would cut in two steps, if you try to cut all the wood in one pass the router bit tends to jump around a bit.

Better than the first edition - more durable. It is intended for inserting door hinges. I bought this because I was modifying my first one to work on flat door jambs. This Ryobi light is just as great. Built in storage and depth adjustment for cutters (included). The new model has better clamping action than the previous model, resulting in less twisting and a more consistent clamp.

Very durable plastic. This new design is much more useful than the old one. It's strong, durable, and your router's protective cover stays in constant, comfortable contact with the stencil's surface. The old design wasn't that comfortable. There was a spot where you could tilt the router and decrease the depth. Also, it is easier to adjust the length of the hinge on it! It costs an additional $10! Delivery was very fast!

Apparently this product is intended for wooden doors with smooth side walls. I got this product to work on my steel skin exterior door but only after changing the fixing. And even with the modification, I was only able to cut out the square pattern, not the rounded pattern, to match the existing hinges. However, it's a great tool with all the necessary accessories to get the job done easily (on a wooden door).

As a DIYer I saved a pack by buying 2 unfinished wooden doors but I never cut out the hinge positions. Very easy to use although instructions were clear watching youtube videos was helpful. I just bought this tool to fix a protruding interior door. I took the door off, removed the hinges, cut the door about 3/32" off and reinstalled the hinges. It worked like clockwork. The biggest problem is the gray part that can be moved to adjust the spacing from 3 to 3.5 inches. Gray detail appears when tracing. This will make the bag uneven. So you have to do several passes. I used this version and the previous one to replace several doors. That works great. A few reviewers commented on the clip and plastic. There are two things to keep in mind when using it. One of them is not to overtighten the clamp. You only need enough pressure to keep the mount from slipping. Rubber pads on both sides help with this. If you buckle the sides, you're too tight! I used this yesterday to embed hinges in a door panel. I ended up creating some very good grooves, but it took some trial and error. Pros: The built-in depth stop for the cutter is useful. The cutter included in the kit is of pretty good quality. The included self-centering drill is very useful and works well. Corner parts for milling loops with different radii work well.
