Better than the first edition - more durable. It is intended for inserting door hinges. I bought this because I was modifying my first one to work on flat door jambs. This Ryobi light is just as great. Built in storage and depth adjustment for cutters (included). The new model has better clamping action than the previous model, resulting in less twisting and a more consistent clamp.
