Worth the money for the security

Much cheaper than other sites. Works perfect. Easy to use. Makes us feel safer. Pretty easy to install. Not as ugly as you can see from the photos. Certainly easier to handle than a broom!

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Not trendy

The first served 27 years. Hope these too!

We installed these foot locks on our Andersen sliding doors when the house was remodeled in 1990. It's 2017 now. The springs and foot buttons got sticky. New locks and new door rollers. It looks like a brand new door! The doors are covered with white vinyl. Our contractor installed the brass locks. This time I replaced them with white ones!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Almost never

Check your door before you buy

This is a well made device. I've had experience with this in another house I own, but it won't work for a house I just bought. The sliding glass door has an adjustment screw where to install the lock. Check the door before buying. Anderson's link to the PDF installation instructions can help you decide if the device is right for you.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • frequency

We have three sliding doors where everything is fine, only the locking mechanism stopped working. We considered replacing the doors, but it turned out to be too expensive. These Anderson security locks came to the rescue. Instead of using those ugly and cumbersome bars to close the door, these locks are unobtrusive and very easy to use. We saved thousands of dollars!

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • A small trifle

Additional security for your sliding door.

This mortise lock is a very simple device with a very important function. No more 2x4 brooms wedged in a door as this bolt allows you to install a rigid bolt anywhere you want to drill a hole to install it. The assembly easily mounts to the short side of the sliding door with the screws provided and is foot activated, making it very easy to operate. The security it offers is reassuring and I think Anderson should include you in any sliding door purchase.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Very expensive

Good product - could use improved installation instructions

I purchased this lock and installed it on an Andersen sliding patio door in my home. interfere with the protruding rib along which the door rolls. If the instructions had told me to move the lock about 1/8 inch from its shown position, I wouldn't have had to file the hole and cut the plastic bushing piece. The lock works fine. My advice is to make sure the hole drilled in the rail and the latch position is such that the hole drilled in the rail is centered on the flat part of the rail.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Clarity

Fits perfectly on my wooden sliding door

Wife loves it because it's easy to operate with one foot and keeps the door secure. I like it because it was easy to install on my non-Anderson wood sliding doors. I drilled pilot holes in the end of the door for 2 screws to attach the lock and 1 hole in the bottom rail for the pin lock. The 1/2" pin hole seemed too big for the 1/4" pin. So I drilled a 3/8" hole and it works great! The instructions show how to remove the door since the hole needed to lock the pin in the track is about 1" from…

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

A fantastic version by Andersen that also fits many other doors.

I used an old steel bar to secure the sliding patio door. While the solution worked well, it was very impractical. It was annoying to find a spot for the bar, when you rented it and when you were trying to take out the rubbish and forgot to unlock the bar first it was a hassle installed in about 15 minutes some light drilling and my door secured very well push the button on the front and your lock will pop out and the door will open. You can easily do it with your hands full! When you're done…

Pros
  • Width: 7/8"
Cons
  • Only available in black

This was a great addition to my new Andersen sliding door

This was a great addition to my new Andersen sliding door. We have a composite Fibrex door. Although we paid for it, it didn't have a leg latch which was disappointing.Ultimately we needed a lock that would keep our inquisitive 2 year old from wandering the street and also wanted a little extra security.I was able to easily install it at the top of the door and it is very easy to work by hand.In addition to the screws provided I decided to add some 3M double sided tape.As we have a Fibrex door…

Pros
  • Height: 1-5/8"
Cons
  • Skirting required

The item says it is for Anderson brand sliding doors and even lists the door models that support it. I knew this when I bought it and I don't have an Anderson -Door. As I expected, it fitted my vinyl framed sliding glass door perfectly. I'm not a window/door professional so I don't know exactly what's behind the vinyl that the mounting screws bite into, but it bites really hard. I'm sure it will last as long as the door. The unit itself is really well made with a solid die-cast metal body. The…
