Review on Andersen Security Latch - Auxiliary Lock by Joseph Stone

The item says it is for Anderson brand sliding doors and even lists the door models that support it. I knew this when I bought it and I don't have an Anderson -Door. As I expected, it fitted my vinyl framed sliding glass door perfectly. I'm not a window/door professional so I don't know exactly what's behind the vinyl that the mounting screws bite into, but it bites really hard. I'm sure it will last as long as the door.The unit itself is really well made with a solid die-cast metal body.The only non-metallic part that was visible from the outside was a plastic plug over the latch and a back panel that faced the door When working with a spring loaded shutter it works and feels RELIABLE with a satisfying 'click' sound when the shutter is locked in. I found it very easy to use, meaning you don't have to stomp or kick it to trigger an action. It is smooth and easy to use with bare feet. This was my experience in correctly aligning the track hole with the latch in the door's closed position. I believe if I accidentally moved the hole it might not work as smoothly. So take your time with the installation and follow the instructions and you will be fine. The instructions were easy to follow and the installation method was professionally written to ensure a proper installation. Overall, I'm thrilled and would definitely recommend this item!
