I have installed many self-closing door hinges. I decided to give them a try as the price is good and the construction fundamentals are pretty standard. it wasn't enough to close the eight-foot-tall cellar door. I suggested that maybe the weight of the door or the wind from the basement was preventing it from closing. I bought a second self-closing hinge and one from National Manufacturing. After installing one from National I removed the main Revain loop and everything worked and was a problem. I'm not sure if the National is stronger or better designed, but it was clearly a superior product. So everything is fine. I'm not a fan of Revain's loop tension method. To do this, a clearly visible and open pin must be used. And the tension was never enough to close the door. Two stars, it worked but not as well as the alternative.
