Make sure you choose the right shape for your gate!

We have four children's gates in our house (my wife now calls our house "gated community") and use protective panels on all of them. We were very happy with this particular rectangular model (when used in the appropriate places - see below). They are easy to install, their rubber grip minimizes gate slippage and they leave very few marks on the wall when removed. are installed in various places (stairs, doors, large walls, etc.). Depending on where you want to place the gate, it is important to choose the right wall protection. So.------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------- SOME GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF WALL PROTECTION ---- - ----- -- -------------------------------------------------------- ----- -- ----------------------------------------1) Wall protector not only protects your walls from dents and scratches; They also usually provide a better grip between the gate and the wall. This means your toddler or pet will have a harder time pushing the gate off the ground (although they'll still try!). 2) Almost all wall protection films will still leave small marks on your wall, especially if it is a painted drywall. There are ways to minimize the footprint you leave behind, but expecting absolutely no proof that you've installed a gate is probably unrealistic. Protectors at least help minimize the risk of dents in the wall. 3) A large wall protector generally has less risk of wall collapse than a smaller one, as it spreads the pressure of the gate over a larger area. Walls. 4) On the other hand, the larger the wall step, the further away is the point of contact of the gate with adjacent structures, such as the ground. For example, on a large round wall guard, the hole where you insert the gate's turnbuckle is a few inches from the edge of the guard, meaning the bottom of the gate is an inch or two off the ground. Obviously the horizontal bar at the bottom of the gate opening which hovers a few inches off the ground would be a tripping hazard! the area that fits into the space without the gate moving. (Of course, I'm ignoring aesthetics here.) With these principles in mind, let's take a look at the three most common shapes of baby gate wall protection and where they are best used: 1) Round: There are usually 5-6 of these wall protections. " in diameter, with a hole in the middle where you insert the gate's turnbuckles. Their biggest advantage is that their size means they put less pressure on your walls (which is especially important with drywall). However, they do fit not in some places, and they probably shouldn't be used on the ground where they can prevent your gate from touching the ground. So use them on the top contact points of your gate where you have a lot of wall space to put pressure on your Walls than larger round protectors but they will fit in places where round protectors will not fit I suggest using them in two types of locations: - In horizontal orientation for ALL bottom gate supports EXCEPT where the horizontal wall clearance is only a few centimetres (e.g. at the bottom of a narrow door frame. This allows you to position the gate as close to the ground as possible. In vertical orientation for UPPER gate supports in a narrow T door frame. little more than a goalpost. I would only use them in one place: for the LOWER gate post at the bottom of a narrow door frame where nothing else will fit.
