Bought this product for my son's Celestron 80LCM Nexstar+ telescope. Some things I learned.1. Also bring a USB to serial adapter if you don't have one or if your PC/laptop doesn't have a serial port.2. Once you've plugged in the USB-to-serial adapter, go to Device Manager and check if the USB-to-serial port is set correctly. I had to select the device and download/install the drivers to use the USB to serial device.3. Download the CFM (Firmware Update Tool) from the Celestron website and extract the files to your desktop (I tried putting them in a folder on the hard drive but the program didn't like it and recommended starting from the desktop to start)4. Run CFM to update hand control. If there are problems, a help file will open to help with the connection5. Once you run CFM it will download the necessary files and once it sees the hand controller you can select the firmware update option, wait a few minutes and you're done.6. Open Night Sky Software, in my case I used CPWI Celestron, after launch I chose connection and hand controller, now the telescope can be aligned and the software cycled through. Hope that helps. Much luck
