I've been using ball joints on motorcycles for years. I decided to try them because of the lower cost compared to the ram and I needed two. The quality is amazing. A big advantage is that there is a spring in the middle to separate the halves. Makes it much easier to use. There are also more adjustment options compared to the ram levers.
