Review on Weleda Organic Himalayan Salt Toothpaste 2.5oz - Dental Care by Kara Hall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fu - taste! then WOW, my teeth are so clean!

I love this toothpaste, having used it in Germany I was very happy to buy it here at Revain. It is considered very healthy there and was available long before the shelves of German stores were filled with Crest and Colgate. Unlike toothpastes commonly available in the US, Weleda is salty, not sweet, and comes as a shock to the body at first. on a toothbrush: it is brown. Not cream or eggshell, but the brown color of a brown paper bag. It's also very aromatic: Weleda contains peppermint, eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils. All this really wakes you up in the morning and scares the guests at home. (heh heh heh) But when it comes down to it, does this stuff work? YUP! WELEDA WORKS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER TOOTHPASTE I HAVE TRIED! The grittiness you feel when using Weleda is not silica at all (the main ingredient in sand), but rather salt and baking soda, which cannot damage tooth enamel. It's gritty and feels like someone overloaded your toothbrush, and your teeth feel like they just got a professional cleaning the whole time. My daughter's gums were sore and soft and bled every time she brushed her teeth. Not anymore - Weleda baking soda and the disinfecting effects of tea tree oil have healed her gums and they are hard and pink, just like they should be. I know it's expensive, but a tube lasts a very long time. Nobody uses more than a small amount because of the taste, and we use fluoridated toothpaste before bed because the label doesn't say Weleda contains fluoride. Using Weleda is very environmentally friendly. It has almost no plastic packaging; just a cardboard box and a metal tube that can be easily recycled. Only the cap is plastic, which I think is inevitable.
