I bought this to keep in the basement where it's cooler. We have some sort of pantry in the basement and I wanted something to store our apples and potatoes. Even with air conditioning, our kitchen gets too warm in the summer so our apples don't last as long on the back shelf, and there's not much room in my fridge to store many apples. I keep potatoes in a basket in the cupboard, but they are also too warm for me. Our basement is at least 10 degrees cooler than our kitchen, so extra groceries stay fresher longer. My husband put it together for me and he said it was pretty easy to put together. He said the reels could be better, but overall the retention system isn't that bad. I line the baskets with paper towels and keep my apples on the top two shelves and my potatoes on the bottom one. I picked up some onions the other day and put them in a basket right above the potatoes. There is a white tray that should be slid under the grate, but I put it in the bottom basket to give my potatoes more support. .
