I bought this to connect a Thunderbolt dock to a laptop so the excess wire doesn't stick out the side of the 3 inch laptop and something might get caught and maybe break the USB-C connector. I now have a nice right angle dongle that only sticks out 3/4" from the side and my heavy Thunderbolt dock cable neatly tucked away in the back of the laptop. I tried a couple of right angle adapters at first but the dongle fails much better and puts less strain on the connector.I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my other laptop. The build quality seems very good and the USB-C fits very well on both ends as it should by me have attached a few photos so you can see the setup and better understand the reason for the purchase.Right angle buttons are required so nothing is sticking out the side.I tested an external solid state USB-C enclosure with an NVME drive and without that right angle key, and benchmarking showed no slowdown in read/write speeds.Speed I could only measure Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.2 speeds. You need to test your Thunderbolt 3 devices to see if there is a speed difference. I'm not sure if this is actually a certified Thunderbolt 3 cable, but it seems to meet my needs. Pros: Good build quality, takes the strain off your ports, fits things you plug and unplug frequently to reduce wear and tear on your laptop port. Disadvantages: none.
