Review on ๐Ÿงญ Inexpensive Survival Kit & Hobby Compasses: 12 Air-Damped Magnetic Plastic Compasses, 20mm Diameter by Nick Beck

I'm happy with the quality for the price; but for a dry compass the needle fluctuates greatly. You have to stop and freeze.

What it works for. He points north. But to use it you have to stop; Place it on a stable, flat surface or hold it VERY, VERY firmly on the back of your hand. It just takes some getting used to. This is not a speed measuring compass to use while walking or on the go. The arrow wobbles too much. But if the chips are down, it will do. They have a license plate that you can use; if you have a small flashlight. UV really makes it visible. It's a "so-and-so" compass: you can still navigate with a knob IF you put it on the ground and scribble azimuth lines N, S, E, W - and then break them down into degrees and compass azimuths. ; But for fast city navigation with a dry compass, I'd go with a baseplate: they use a more expensive bearing that doesn't wobble as much. For something small, a liquid-filled ball compass on a pin works best in my opinion - it's just that little bubble that annoys me - but accuracy isn't affected as long as the compass disc floats and the compass map is dampened. ; so you can use it on the go. But it's far better at giving you a stable compass reading than anything else of comparable size, and you can carry it. It's smaller and flatter, but it's your second pillar, and it's way better than moss on a tree.
