It allows me to switch my keyboard and mouse between my main home PC and my work laptop. I use other means to transfer images from a laptop to monitors. Operation couldn't be simpler, just press the button. USB-3 wasn't just needed to switch keyboard and mouse, so USB-2 connection with this switch is quite normal. I connected the star because of a few small design issues that were easily fixed. First, the bulbs at the top are so dim that you can't see them at all unless the switch is closer to the back of the table. I have to lift and flip the switch to see what the current selection is. Either move the lights forward or make them brighter. Second, the two input ports (for accessories) need to be moved to the back of the switch. Got two in the back and two in the front. This would allow the keyboard and mouse cables to run through the back and I wouldn't need cables running from the front of the switch to the back of the desk. Leave a few ports on the front panel for flash drives or other accessories that are plugged in and unplugged regularly. Overall it works so I'm still ok with this switch.
