Review on Enhance Your Vehicle's Safety with GM Genuine Parts D1586H Brake Light Switch by Jesse Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You'll have to be a contortionist to install them, but an inexpensive and easy fix for a faulty cruise control

The cruise control stopped working on my 2008 GMC Sierra 3500 HD 4x4 diesel truck for no apparent reason. I searched the internet for possible causes and found that the cruise control fuse was intact. I quickly discovered the possibility of a brake light switch failure. There are tons of videos on Youtube about replacing blocks so I searched and found this product on Revain for a DIY project. 15861245) Removing the old switch (located under the dashboard and on top of the brake pedal "rod”) is easy in theory, but quite tedious in practice. It was difficult to remove as there is very little room for enough leverage to easily pry it off with a screwdriver or grab it with needle nose pliers. Once the screw and clip are removed, simply unplug the electrical connector and remove the switch from the assembly. Installing a new switch is almost the opposite of removing a failed unit. Of course, you'll need good work area lighting, and you'll need to squirm on the driver's side floor for good access under the dash and an unobstructed view of the brake switch assembly. It paid off when my cruise control struck again during a test drive.

Pros

Cons
