It is not easy to remove the lock nut without special tools. Bad design from the start. Luckily I bought this tool ($6) a few years ago, but it's still not easy to remove if the nut is really tight. The plastic nut is easy to remove. I should have cut them earlier. Make sure the small notch on the side of the cartridge fits perfectly into the slot in the faucet socket; otherwise it flows. The new design is much better, but I won't spend $200 on a new faucet when it can be fixed for $10. as long as they make this ammo!
