Review on ๐Ÿšจ Panic Alarm Oregon Scientific PE319 Pedometer: Enhancing Safety and Fitness by Alexandra Baker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A solid pedometer despite the flaws

Received this as a gift from my mother who appreciated (and recommended) the OMRON HJ112 premium pedometer I bought her. Although I was initially disappointed to agree with the 1 and 2 star ratings and regretted that they spent double the money to get me the HJ112, after using this pedometer for a few weeks and became acquainted with its functions and characteristics . First, it's easy to reset if you keep it in pedometer mode. Switching to displaying distance or calories on the screen only resets the stopwatch. The problem of self-registration of steps is solved. Second, it counts extra steps on some movements, but can be calibrated with the sensitivity control. I put it on for a morning walk, counting every 100-200 steps and adjusting the sensitivity until it exceeded 5% each time. It doesn't count extra steps when I'm driving, but it can if you're actively moving around your seat at your desk. Third, I was very concerned that if I had an accident, I would constantly turn on my personal safety alarm. Luckily, the stylus isn't that easy to pull out. It attaches to an additional crocodile clip to hold the pedometer on clothing, but even hanging from this clip the pin will not pull out. I haven't heard the alarm yet because my husband and dog have been begging me not to try. If I love this pedometer so much, why not give it 5 stars? Because it could be better. The sensitivity slider is pretty easy to accidentally move, so unfortunately I often have to recalibrate it. It has no memory function. (My mom will remember your steps for the last seven days.) I think it would be helpful if it had a "sleep mode" so you could pause it and not count your steps while sitting at the table (or snoozing on the couch). . like we pregnant women do). It would be nice to be able to keep it in step-by-step mode; The harder-to-press reset button helps. And the battery compartment is hard to reach (requires a very small screwdriver), plus I don't wait to change the batteries, although one is for alarm only, so if I'm lucky I won't have a spare. Despite the small flaws, I can recommend this pedometer.

Pros
  • Panic alarm 120 decibels for safety
Cons
